A White Christmas??

Black Friday

This year was mine and Jon's first year participating in Black Friday! I was supposed to work today, but I was able to be on call so that we could finish up our Christmas shopping. We only went to our local Wal-Mart since I was on call for work, but that one stop was enough for the both of us! Our Wal-Mart had tons of stuff. They still had delivery trucks coming in when we showed up at 6am. We were able to get some Christmas gifts for family, along with some stuff for us too. After all was said and done I believe we spent more time in the checkout line than we did shopping! haha. But it was worth it. We added up our savings for that one trip...we saved $123.08. Well worth it :) Afterwards we came home and curled up on the couch with the pup to catch up on some sleep :)

Update of Sorts

I can hardly believe that we're already in the middle of November! Next week is already Thanksgiving, and we have SO much to be thankful for. God has truly blessed us over the year in so many ways that we find ourselves amazed and in awe at the way God works. Recently with our news of receiving orders to Texas. We have both been praying for God to take us where He wants us to be; and while we were hoping for New Mexico, we know in our hearts that Texas is His will. We are at 131 days until we are officially out of Florida! Things are falling into place so perfectly with everything that we can hardly contain our excitement! School is a major thing that Jon and I are ready to put past us. Once we get to Texas i'll have about 3 years until i'll graduate with my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, and because Jon will be in a clinical setting with his job, he will be able to go back to school as well and finish up his degree.

This semester i'm taking classes online from the local school here in our town. We were incredibly bummed out to find that I wasn't awarded any financial aid this year, so every class I was going to take would have to be paid for out of my pocket. [very expensive!] But we decided that it's what we have to do right now and that it'll all work out and we'll pay it. When I went to sign up for my classes today there was a flyer on a desk about military spouse scholarship for those in certain fields. When I asked about it the lady knew nothing so I let it go. As I got home to pay my tuition I decided to google the scholarship to see if I could find any information on it. Once I found the page I started fililng out the application to see if I was even eligible, 10 minutes later I had an email saying that I was and that I could apply. Once I applied I figured it would be awhile before I heard anything but a few minutes later I had a voucher in my name for the amount I needed ready to be sent to the school. I went down to the school to make sure it was the real thing and I was handed a receipt that said PAID IN FULL!!!!!! God is so good to those that remain true to Him and follow His ways!

so here i am, in my own little world, blow drying my hair [at 640am mind you] and when i turned off the blow dryer i hear my car alarm going off!!!! as i go running out to the livingroom i see my sweet otis looking up at me with a mouth full of my car keys. boy, my neighbors must love me today.

Now that Jon and I have received orders...the people came to fix our flooding problem! haha. Better late than never I guess! And it fixed the flooding problem itself, but it still makes this big lake in our driveway-which is super annoying. But we're moving in 5 months so...oh well! We'll deal!

Memo

Well, for those of you who haven't got the memo yet....

WE'RE MOVING!!!!

Come the end of March, Jon and I will be loading up and going to lovely Abilene, TX!

We are very excited about being able to be closer to our family.

[4hours from Clovis, 7.5hours from Abq]

And we're also excited about the fact that Jon will be working in a clinical setting...meaning M-F, 7-4 sorta deal...

so he'll be able to go back and finish his degree with that schedule...and I'll be able to finish up my Nursing degree there as well.

Lubbock is only 2.5hours away from us...and Southwest Airlines has cheap flights from most places into there, so we'll be more easily accessible!!!!

We are very excited for the move...we know it's going to a busy begining of the year until we get there and get settled. But we know it'll be worth it to have family close by and to be able to finish up school.

We're trying to get the ball rolling on the little things-

Transferring my nursing license into Texas is one main thing

Finding a house...which we can't really do until March

Finding a job...which I've started looking for, but it's hard to know what positions are going to be open come March/April.

So for now we're just focusing on wrapping our heads around the move. We will be sad to leave the great friends we've made here, and the wonderful job I currently have...but we know it'll be worth it in the long run.

Quick Update

Hello everyone! We are still alive and kicking!

Just wanted to give a quick update on things going on with us lately...

Jon and I have been going back and forth with the lovely ERA rental people because our flooding problem still has not been fixed!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted, it hasn't flooded in awhile, but we still get a huge lake in our driveway to where we have to go out the back door when we leave the house. It's so frustrating.... and if anyone has been watching the weather, there is a tropical storm "Henri" out in the Atlantic that looks like it could possibly come this way.

On another note, Otis is doing well too...After the first day he really was back to himself. We had some issues with keeping him away from his stitches, but we put together a jumpsuit looking outfit for him to keep him away...poor pup. But his stitches look great and he's doing fine! He gets the stitches out next Wednesday so he'll be good to go after that.

Other than that we've been working away! Staying busy... we love and miss everyone!

Otis Update

Our poor Odie underwent his dreaded "procedure" this morning...

he was neutered.

He was so excited to go for a car ride, but once we got to the clinic, I think he knew we something was up...

Odie is normally super outgoing and will lick your face off...but we were having to drag him in. It was so sad leaving him, but I pulled myself together for the greater good.

We went to pick him up and the poor pup looked pitiful. He had a big cone around his neck and his walk had turned into a march. Once in the car, he cried the entire way home...again not like him; he loves the car!

Once home he was so exhausted. He rested on the couch for a bit, refusing to eat or drink, but he took ice cubes from us so we were content with that. It's currently about 6:40pm and the little booger still has his episodes of crying, but he's digging around in his toy box making a mess for me to clean up, and he's eaten a bit of food. I think he'll survive :)

Park

It was so beautiful outside today that we loaded Odie up in the car and took him to a park near our house. Besides some school kids playing on the basketball court, we had the whole park to ourselves, so little Odie could run around like crazy! We went out ot the football field and Jon and I took turns running up and down it with him...about 20 minutes into it, Otis was pooped! Here are a few pics!

2nd Anniversary!

2 years already!For our anniversary this year we made our annual trip to PF Changs! Got ourselves a gift, and then headed home to set it up! I'll post a pic of it later...we're still working on it! ;) I must say, I am a blessed woman. I have the most amazing husband a gal could ever ask for.

This afternoon Jon and I thought it would be a good idea to take the pup for a short walk around the block before the rain from the tropical storm "Claudette" was to hit. Well...about halfway through our walk around the block I felt a raindrop! Then Jon felt one! We kinda looked at each other like, "uh oh" but we both figured we had time to make it home...we were wrong! It started POURING!!!!!! The poor dog didn't know what to think! So Jon and I finished our short walk out with a run...just to give you an idea of how badly it was pouring, here's a picture of me once we got home. Disclaimer: this is a terrible picture! I'm just trying to give everyone an idea of how hard it rained on us when we were running and only a short distance of around the blcok from our house!

Rain

Well, if you can't tell from the pics below, we've been getting some rain here recently! And because of this great rain, Jon and I have discovered that a downhill driveway was not the brightest idea ever! haha... luckily, it didn't really get into the garage, but our whole front lawn and driveway was completely flooded! So, this weekend our goal is to come up with some sort of removable contraption so we can drain our driveway when it rains all crazy!!! haha... wish us luck!
