I realized today that I haven't sat down and done a real good blog lately, so I figured i'd give it a go and try my best to inform you of what's going on in the life of Jon and Jalane....
Things for me have been going great lately! It's such a relief to have the NCLEX behind me and to know that all the hard work and endless projects and late nights of studying have finally paid off!!!! I have been working full time in labor and delivery, and while at first I wasn't too crazy about that department, it's starting to grow on me! I had my IV certification on Friday, but then worked Saturday and Sunday, and now that i'm starting to get into a routine and learn my way around and such, i'm falling in love with this specialty. Yesterday I got to catch my first baby!!!! I was so nervous but after it was all said and done I was taken aback at how much I enjoyed it. As a CNA on a med/surg floor I saw many many people pass on, and it's just such a change of pace to get to bring life into the world rather than watch life leave... Now that i'm getting in there and getting comfortable i'm enjoying it. As far as that IV class... you have to have 6 successful IV placements in order to get your certificate...you have as long as you need to get your sticks in, but it's so much harder than I thought it would be!!!! Saturday things were slow up in L&D so I wondered down to the ER to try to get some sticks in.... My very first stick was successful, but after that, not so much! I started to get overwhelmed with myself so I decided i'd come back another day and give it a go... I did have a couple chances on Sunday to get some sticks in, but after missing on two people I was done. It's gunna take some practice for me! haha... i'm sure i'll catch on eventually, but it's a lot harder than it may seem!!!! Anyway!!!! Bottom line is, i've fallen in love with my job and i'm so glad this opportunity was given to me!
As far as things in Jon's life go...he is in his last week of ALS (Airmen Leadership School.) He graduates on Wednesday and is just SO excited!!!! I'm so excited for him too! We're thinking that on April 1st he'll get to put on his new stripe as a Staff Sergent! After that, he'll return to the lab, more than likely in is comfort zone of Chemistry. He has also been nominated for an award in his class so that's exciting too! After his graduation on Wednesday he gets some time off, and thankfully, it all worked out to be on my days off too!!! So we're gunna have a relaxing weekend together celebrating our accomplishments together!!!! I'm so excited! I'll post pictures of all of this next week sometime so keep an eye out!!!!
